It feels like just
yesterday I was sitting in my art studio at Uni mixing kilos of uncooked rice
with litres and litres of PVA glue. It’s strange to think I’ve completed a
teaching degree and have been working as a TRT for the past month.
I learnt a lot at Uni
about teaching theories and effective pedagogies. They constantly told us that
we must plan student centred lessons that relate to real world situations. Not
to do this, always do that… But I don’t think anything can fully prepare you for
the world of being a relief teacher.
The past month has
been interesting to say the least. I have been relieving in schools all over
Adelaide and while some days are much harder then others, the kids teach me
something new every single day!
While I would really
like to get a contract somewhere I can teach the same kids everyday, so far I’ve
received a lot of rejection emails. Nothing can hold me back though, and until
then I am getting really good at remember 30 new kids names everyday! =D
